Excerpt:

llie Joe wasn’t all bad. That was part of the problem. All I had to do was hear his voice, feel the velvet softness of his ips…those strong arms wrapping around me…he became mine and no one else’s. We don’t have a else’s. We don’t have a relationship; we have an addiction to each other. have to find the strength to break his spell, somehow…some way. Or stay trapped in his web for the rest of my life.

The rain surrounds me in the form of a mist as realize that I am standing n the driveway again, lost in dreams. Pulling the collar of my jacke around my neck to stop the chill, I walk to the back of the Cadillac again just to check. We might be in the middle of nowhere n this valley but meth has made crime an epidemic. It gnaw at the fringes of our people. No one would steal the Cadillac out of respect for dad, but I’d had to threaten to shot a couple of boys trying to steal the tires and rims a few months ago They were buzzed outta their minds. It’s a wonder they didn't shot me, but they were just looking for something quick to stea and sell. One shot in the air and they ran like mice. They will steal an antique mandolin in a antique mandolin in a heartbeat. They ain’t getting Blue Belle. I probably would shot someone in order to save her life.

Knowing the trunk is securely locked, I walk toward the front door of the the front door of the ittle house. Before entering, I wipe my boots on the mat on the porch and shake my long, blonde hair to remove the moisture Giving up, I finally wrap my hair into a makeshift ponytail and open the door. A wave of warmth and the smell of cinnamon greet me unexpectedLy.

“Good afternoon, welcome. I am Ernesto Lorenze,” a friendly male voice says from the corner of the dark room. I look around to see a tall, dark haired guy pull himself upright from a chair seated behind an antique desk.

Actually, his legs are so long it is as if he is unraveling himself from the desk and chair. That’s a long drink of water crosses my mind before even have time to think. I feel a blush creep across my cheeks as I access his credentials, so to speak. He is young looking but possibly in his mid-30s.

He is wearing some type of black top hat dark shirt, and jeans You have to wonder why he would want to cover those silky dark curls, which almost touch his shoulders. His eyes are a luscious black/brown too, with just enough spark when he smiles, which lets you know that he is fun and charming.

Bet he smiles like that all the time, not just when he wants to just when he wants to take money from you for a card reading, but anytime. Anywhere.

The dimples anytime. Anywhere. The dimples help with that assessment, too. The fortune teller is a gorgeous guy.

How great is that? I feel excited about something for the first time in a long time. Surely THAT alone is an omen, but we shall see what we shall see.

The spell is momentarily broken when he sits down on the desk in front of on the desk in front of me, crosses his arms, and furrows his dark brows. Is something wrong?“An hour reading is 100 dollars. Half an hour only 50 dollars. What would you like today?” He looks at me and winks. Is he flirting with me? How flirting with me? How unexpected. Why have I left the house with no make-up on? Looking him in the eyes makes me wonder…What would I like today?

About The Author:

On my latest novel Twelve Houses, I tel the story of a widow who discovers that her life story is far from over. Amelia is a brave woman who struggles to find her true place in the world and at the same time to create a life that holds spiritual meaning and purpose.

Though my first book, Borrowing My Mother's Saints, was a comedy set in New York, I think both books describe a similar spiritual journey. The struggles of all of my characters are very important to me, and I love to hear from my readers about my books.

In my everyday life, I am married, and my husband and I are raising two sons. We currently divide our lives between San Diego, California, and Mexico.

Author Guest Post:

What inspired me to Write My Book?

Twelve Houses was started as an observation you could say, the father of a dear friend of mine came to visit her and upon meeting him I could feel his loneliness and his grief shadow his actions, when I learned he became a widow six years prior and how his life changed dramatically after. It got me thinking on the subject: What do you do when the love of your life goes? How do you handle it? How can one survive when it looks or feels unbearable?

I started asking myself those questions and the answers came as I started to write the first chapter and gave Amelia her own voice to express her feelings upon becoming a widow while facing fear, doubt and anger and having no solace from her always tranqui and uplifting sculpture studio. never felt lost in this I could always imagine the feelings of grief and loneliness while at the same time allowing yourself to move and go on.

She moves into a journey of self discovery of herself in a new light and faces difficult decisions and thought questions. But ultimately one of the questions she has to ask herself "Do want to move on?"  because as she learns it's a very personal and deep decision she has to make, she can wallow in her grief and accept the fact while waiting for her time to come or she can learn to live another way.

I hope as readers close the book they come to their own opinions, but mostly I would love for them to feel the message lives in them and inspires their life in some way.

Cover Reveal....Holly Hearts Hollywood

Extra! Extra! Read All About It!

Holly Hearts Hollywood Cover Reveal

Author Kenley Doonan

Release Date: Spring 2014

Summary from Goodreads

Sixteen-year-old Holly Hart wants to be a star. She moves to Los Angeles from the small town of Cedar Junction only to hear she's too fat and ugly to be a famous singer.

But when Shell Shocked Records looks past Holly's plus-sized figure and less-than-graceful-personality to offer her a recording contract, Holly cannot believe her good fortune.

On closer inspection, however, the record execs want Holly to do all the singing, and a thinner and more beautifu girl, Lacey, would lip-sync and get all the credit. Holly goes for it because after all, she wanted to sing.

Contractually bound to secrecy, Holly is more than happy to sit backstage while Lacey shimmies in the limelight and basks in the fame. Before she knows it, Holly is friends with Serena, the pop-star daughter of a music-mogul, flirting with an intern, and developing a strange half-friendship with the seemingly bipolar Lacey.

When Grayson Frost, the biggest country star in America, and coincidentally, a former school bully begins dating Lacey, Holly hopes that he won't recognize or torment her.

Through a series of embarrassing and weird events, Holly gets to know Grayson and learns that he is much nicer and more mature than he was four years ago. Holly is horrified when she starts falling for him. When Grayson admits he fell for Lacey's voice, what is a girl to do when she can't legally tell the truth at the moment when the truth matters the most?

Alabama Sons Release Party!!! E.A. Whitehead

Alabama Sons Goes Live!

E.A. Whitehead

The party is going down now....

Excerpt

"SHE MADE SMALL talk look good. She laughed at my stupid jokes, and quirked an eyebrow when I made comments about her being the prettiest girl in the restaurant tonight.

"Boy, you sure lay it on thick." She shook her head and laughed toward the open window Maybe I was, I didn't want her to feel cheap. wanted to tell her I was just nervous, but truthfully I had a feeling she had a thing for Boone.

I wanted to look more like a man and less like a pussy driving a beat up Jeep Wrangler as we followed Boone's lifted 80's restored Chevy C-10 pickup Chevy C-10 pickup. Every time he revved forward the vibrations of his truck reverberated through the Jeep making my manhood grow a size.

"Naw, just want a pretty girl to feel appreciated."
Ok isten to yourself or anything; keep laying it on thick ike an asshat I reached over her lap and dropped down the glove box; fishing around for the pack of gum I knew I had thrown in there.

"Can get this for you get this for you, please?
You're going to kill us." She put her hands over mine and pushed me away. Her hands felt small and warm, but her grip was fierce. It instantly was fierce. It instantly made me imagine her hands elsewhere"Thanks." I couldn't look at her as she handed me the piece of gum, putting one in her mouth also. I was sure if I caught her glance the wrong way in glance the wrong way in my direction I'd end up springing to attention righ here in the car.

"So where do you go to school?" I decided to change the topic to something so far from sexual it would take a miracle to relate it back"I don't right now. I took a year off. I was going to the community college for Human Sexuality, though.

" She looked at me and I could feel my mouth dropping lower as she spoke. "I want to be a Sex Ed teacher eventually.

How in the fuck is this my life?"That's an odd…" I paused with question not wanting to offend her"vocation choice?" She nodded. "Yeah, but, someone has to do it. I jus want to teach them to want to teach them to be safe, they're going to do it anyway, might as wel et them know it's ok f you're being cautious and not just doing it because you're being you're being pressured.

Kids don't relate to movies and putting a condom on a banana anymore. They need to be taught through 20th century know-how. I choked on the excess saliva from the gum chewing"Yeah, well I understand where you're coming from but you think you really wanna teach all those kids The Way of the Warriors?" I hope she got my sperm joke"Someone has to teach them, Jackson. I'm not saying I'll be the Mother Theresa of sexual indemnity. But, I hope to at least help them understand t's ok to love someone and still stay safe.

" I couldn't take my eyes off take my eyes off her, she kept surprising me, and I hadn't expected this from her"JACKSON!" she yelled and my eyes whipped forward as we almost crashed into the back of the gigantic pick-up truck I slammed on the brakes.

Boone had slowed down to find parking on Duncan's to find parking on Duncan's packed suburban street. "FUCK!" I reached across and slammed my righ forearm into her chest protectively.

"Sorry!" I pulled n behind Boone in the line of parked cars. "I'm sorry, you distracted me." Better be hones from the starting gate, Jackson.

I stared at her, stil breathing a little heavier from the adrenaline She looked back at me, calm as a cucumber.

"It's jus sex, Jackson," she climbed down from the Jeep, turning back, looking at me with soft eyes and a hard smirk "don't be distracted by it."

Oh, but I was.

Sandy dozed intermittently with her head on Jon's shoulder as they headed west on IH10. She thought about the changes that had just occurred in her life: her father's death, quitting her teaching job in New Orleans, and packing all her belongings into the moving truck she was riding in. Her mind raced to the changes that were to come: her marriage to Jon, moving to the town of Richmond, Texas, and the effect that the community would have on her—and she would have on the community. Maybe this woman does know something. I'm gonna try to keep an open mind and listen and learn, Daphne told herself silently.

Author Guest post: Dee Wilbur

Dee Pipes and Charles Yates write together under the penname Dee Wilbur a combination of their middle names.

The first thing people always ask is"Are you married?"

The correct answer is"Yes, but not to each other." Dee and her husband Bryan have been married for thirty-five years, and Sally and Charlie will celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary next year One thing that Dee and Charlie have in common is that they both grew up in small Texas towns, Dee in Liberty and Charlie in Rosenberg.

The time of their childhood was a much simpler time a time in small town Texas when the doors weren't locked, and everybody knew everybody and what they were p to.

In many ways children were freer They could wander the streets without fear of being molested. And if they did anything bad, word would have gotten back to their parents before they made it home. Charlie got his driver's license when he was twelve and was driving in Houston by the time he was fourteen.

JIt seems only natural that they would center their stories in small town Texas. Richmond, Texas, the setting for most of the stories, is a smal town, founded in 1821. Many of the original families still live in the area making up the social elite. One of the largest private foundations in Texas is based in Richmond and has provided millions of dollars in grants to the local hospital, the library system, and numerous charities in Fort Bend County. Richmond had the same mayor for over sixty years until he died recently in his early nineties. His campaign slogan had always been, "If you don't like the way I'm doing things vote for somebody else." People rarely did. The Richmond cemetery has the graves of Mirabeau B Lamar, the second president of the Republic of Texas, and Jane Long, the first white.

woman to give birth in Texas who is called the Mother of Texas. Long known for its brothels on Mud Alley, Richmond ladies of the night served the men they passed through town on their way to the battle of San Jacinto which gained Texas freedom from Mexico.

The places in their stories are a
The places in their stories are all real; you can visit them. In fact they offer tours of the sites to book clubs church organizations, etc. There is no charge for the two hour tour.

One is required to have read one of their books prior to the tour. They end the tour with a Dutch-treat lunch at Sandy and Jon's (the main characters in the Richmond series) favorite restaurant in downtown Richmond.

All the titles of their books are based on Bible verses. The books are not religious tomes, but they always seem to be able to find an appropriate Bible verse that sums up the essence of the book.

Their characters, with two or three exceptions, are figments of their imagination. Those who serve as models for a character are aware of the fact and seem to take pleasure in it. Many who are not models seem to take great please in thinking they are.

Welcome to small town Texas

It's his little joke," Maureen explained with a grin"Back to the pre-nups and divorces which of course go hand in hand If the couple divorces, at least one or maybe both, will continue to reside in Richmond," Maureen continued, "and business." Daphne laughed as the light finally came on.

"Yes, indeed. And no one remembers their divorce lawyer positively.""

I sure don't!  He took my money didn't get me enough money from that lazy bastard ex of mine, and took his own sweet time doing it," Daphne said with feeling as her voice broke The older woman looked at her and asked, "It's been about a year since you started proceedings?"

"It's been a year and one month since I threw his lazy cheating ass out of my house.

How did you know?

These things seem to go in stages and you are at about the one year mark, give or take a couple of months."

Maybe this woman does know something. I'm gonna try to keep an open mind and listen and learn, Daphne told herself silently.

Hard Glamour, By Maggie Marr

AUTHOR's FAVORITE QUOTES FROM HARD GLAMOUR

By Maggie Marr

Maybe this summer in Los Angeles was a Big Risk, but I wanted into the world of entertainment. I wanted to make movies. I wanted to live in California. I wanted to feel alive and whole. I wanted so much more than a girl from Kansas should ever want. --Lane Channing.

Maggie: I love the above quote because it is so Lane.  The quote expresses her excitement and her optimism as wel as this fearlessness that resides deep inside her.  Even though things have been tough for Lane she stil believes in dreams and taking chances.

Author ChemistryI turned off the jets of water and wrapped a towel around my waist, then stepped out of the shower and turned toward the steamed mirror. I wiped it clean and looked into that face of mine The hard, cold eyes of a man who would never get the chance to love a good girl like Lane Channing stared back. Sometimes I hated that guy.  - Dillon MacAvoy.

Maggie: I love this quote because it shows who Dillon is in the beginning of the story.  He is closed off and he doesn't even like the guy he's become and yet he has no idea how to change himself, how to be the guy that deep down he wants to be.

as falling in love with Dillon MacAvoy A love that could never be returned. I could have my summer, could have him for a while, but the girl that would have him for forever— knew for certain that girl wouldn't be me.  --Lane Channing.

Maggie: This quote is great because Lane won't stop herself from falling in love with Dillon--actually she can't stop herself and yet she can't believe that possibly she is the right girl for him- at least not yet.

My heart thudded and my throat thickened. I closed my eyes and licked my lips. I was an asshole. I was a man whore. I was a guy that used girls and kicked them to the curb and now finally when I met a girl I couldn't get out of my system, a girl I wanted to stay a girl I cared about, I was going to pay for my past sins.  --Dillon MacAvoy

Maggie: Again, another quote where Dillon doesn't like who he was or what he was, but here he is starting to accept that his past actions have repercussions.  Here in this quote we see remorse and a desire by Dillon to change so that he won't ruin his future.

"You'll walk out there to the premiere you'll go to the party, and you'l pretend. You'll pretend none of this bothers you. You'll pretend you're having a great time. You'll follow Dillon and his team's lead and you'l even pretend you aren't sleeping with him and you aren't in love. And you'll do it for his career. For the business." --Amanda Sterling

Maggie: I LOVE Amanda.  She grew up in the entertainment industry and totally gets it. Amanda is giving Lane the truth about being a part of entertainment.  About the compromises that Amanda has made in her life and the compromises that she is certain that Lane will have to make and all for a career in an amazing but demanding industry.

Author Interview....Maggie Marr

) Q: Do you have a routine that you use to get into the right frame of mind to write?

Maggie: I write first thing in the morning My mind is clear and it's the best time for me to get my words down Also, I am trying to send a message to my muse that Writing Is Important by making my writing the first thing do in my day. Plus, it is so easy with everything else that goes on in a day to not get the writing done if I don't make it the first thing I do.

2. Where did you get the idea or inspiration for HARD GLAMOUR?

Maggie: I love the New Adult genre. I've lived and worked in Hollywood and written about Hollywood for nearly a decade so when Dillon and Lane started telling me their story it seemed like a natural fit.

3. Q: What was your favorite part writing this novel? Don't forget to tell us why.

Maggie: I love it when the characters start to act on their own and surprise me. This usually starts to happen around page 60 or so. Up to then I am listening to them tell me their story but I kind of know what they are doing and where I *think* they are going to go with it but then all the sudden Wham! The characters are off and they are surprising me with their words and their actions--I love that!

I also love to write the sex scenes :

4. What was the most difficult part writing this novel?

Maggie: How hard Dillon was as a male character in the beginning.  He is just so Alpha and in unlikeable and closed off--we start to understand why and see that this is a defense mechanism and how Lane is able to break through those barriers but at first he was a really tough guy to like.

5. : What do you like to do when you are not writing?

Maggie: Read!I love to read! I read al kinds of books truly it is my favorite activity. I also love chasing after the children and yoga.

6. Any future writing news you would like to share?

Maggie: So many fun things this year Broken Glamour, book 2 in the Glamour Series publishes March 2014 Fast Glamour, book 3 comes out in May and finally Easy Glamour, book 4 is set to publish in July.

AUTHOR'S TAKE ON DILLON FROM HARD GLAMOUR By Maggie Marr

( http://15pictures.com/wp-content/ gallery/15-pictures-channing-tatum/ channing-tatum-3.jpg)

Dillon MacAvoy is a study in contradictions. He is a great character to get to write. Here is a guy who completely an alpha male but with this soft interior. An interior that was not honored when he was a child.  He gets plucked from obscurity, does a huge underwear add and is now on his fourth film.  Dillon is on the ride of his life when we meet him--but he is also terrified and lonely and he is doing what he learned to do when he was a child when he was terrified and that is to act tough and not feel--or at least act like he doesn't feel.

Many of Dillon's qualities come from being raised by a very tough dictatorial father who never showed emotion.

A father that believed everything was disposable. Dillon was a kind and emotional kid and his father quite literally tried to beat the emotion out of Dillon.

Dillon's father saw his sons caring nature as a vulnerability, a weakness so he did everything he could to 'toughen' Dillon up.

We also see how dictatorial the MacAvoy family was/is in their reaction to their youngest son Choo.  Dillon makes a painful choice to support his brother, Dillon eschews a relationship with his parents because of their refusal to accept Choo for who he is: A gay man.

Dillon is loyal and kind and just and he will do anything to protect his brother from any further pain inflicted by their parents.

Dillon is a physically gifted man.  He has dark hair, beautiful blue eyes He is thick and well-muscled.  He exudes a fearless confidence.  When write him I often see glimpses of Channing Tatum, in his looks and the way he moves. He has a great appetite for women, and woman love Dillon.  He is that good-looking guy that you can take home to mom but really he is a bad-boy in disguise.

Author Interview....Mistress Of The Wind; By Author Michelle Deiner

Mistress Of The Wind Book Tour hosted by Prism Book Tours

Guest Post & Interview.....

MISTRESS OF THE WIND by Michelle Diener Release date: 19 December 2013

About The Book:

Bjorn needs to find a very special woman . . The fate of his people, and his own life, depends on it.

But when he does find her, she is nothing ike he imagined, and may just harbor more secrets than he does himself Astrid has never taken well to commands.

No matter who issues them . . She's clashed her whole life with her father, and now her lover, the mysterious man who comes to her bedroom in darkness and disappears to guard his mountain by day as a bear, is finding it out the hard way. And when he's taken by his enemies, no one is prepared for Astrid's response It is never wise to anger the mistress of the wind.

Praise For Mistress Of The Wind

"Diener's adaptation retains the familiar elements of the original, echoing both the structure and spirit of the classic, but true to form, she puts her own spin both the plot and the narrative, crafting an intricately alluring tale of self-sacrifice, steadfast devotion and enduring love." Flashlight Commentary.

The story is fast-paced and never boring, the world a beauty and Michelle's writing so wonderfully detailed that felt I was with Bjorn and Astrid on their journey." Book Bird Reviews.

Author Michelle Diener takes this re-telling to another level She doesn't restrict herself to an East of the Sun, West of the moon retelling. Instead we are also given parts reminiscent of Psyche's quest. Which just allowed for a much more richer story.  Paperback Wonderland.

Author Interview

What inspired you to become a writer?

It was a decision made a long time ago, and at its heart, has never really changed - I love books and ove telling stories.

What the inspiration behind Mistress Of The Wind?

I love fairy tales, and the fairy tale East of the Sun West of the Moon has always been one of my absolute favorites. The idea of writing a book based on the fairy tale has been swirling through my head for many, many years.

What has been your 3 main struggles as a writer?

It is hard to write a book, no matter what length it is There will be times that every word is an effort, and all writers have dig deep, push through that and keep at it Rejection is hard, too.

When I started writing, self stack of rejection letters from various agents for my books.

One of the things I will say about that though, was that when I moved from South Africa to Australia, I suddenly found a lot of requests from agents, and a lot less rejections, I have always wondered how much my address played in the wondered how much my address played in the number of rejections I racked up.

But it still didn't make them any easier to bear. Once I had an agent, though, there was the inevitable rejection by editors (though far, far, FAR less than rejections by agents, :)) and I think all writers have to accept rejection is part of the game. number of rejections I racked up.

But it still didn't make them any easier to bear. Once I had an agent though, there was the inevitable rejection by editors(though far, far, FAR less than rejections by agents:)) and I think all writers have to accept rejection is part of the game Putting yourself out there.

Publishing any book whether it's through my publisher, Simon & Schuster, or self-publishing, is putting some part of yourself out on display.

That kind of vulnerability is hard to cope with, and something that always hard to cope with, and something that always stresses me out.

When writing do you have a glass of wine, cup of coffee or have music playing?

I often have a cup of coffee, and never any music. I like quiet when I work. For some reason, it's easier for me to work in a cafe, if I want to work away from home, than the library.

I think because in the quiet home, than the library. I think because in the quiet of a library, when someone does start talking, its of a library, when someone does start talking, its really obvious and irritates the heck out of me and jerks me out of the story, whereas the constant sounds and comings and goings at a coffee shop are a sort of white noise that is easier to bear.

About The Author:

Michelle Diener Diener writes historical fiction. Her Diener Susanna Horenbout & John Parker series set in the court of Henry VIII, includes In a Treacherous Court, Keeper of the King's Secrets and In Defense of the Queen.

Michelle's other historical novels include Daughter of the Sky, The Emperor's Conspiracy and Banquet of Lies (loosely connected to The Emperor's Conspiracy).

Michelle's first fantasy novel, Mistress of the Wind, is set for a December 23, 2013.

Michelle was born in London, grew up in South Africa and currently lives in Australia with her husband and two children.

I really enjoyed being part of Mistress Of The Wind Book Tour, and hosting for Prism Book Tours.

Erratic as he moved toward me, and with one quick turn of the lock, he pulled me inside, sliding his lips onto mine. I met his lips with the same ferocious impact, parting my mouth tangling his tongue with mine, and sending spikes of fire up my spine.

AJ's hand went behind me, pulling the cord of the blinds closed. This desire was intense. I felt the softness of the corner chaise lounge against my back. ripped off his shirt, trailing my hands up and down his back. I could fee how hard he was against my leg. My own shirt hugged his on the ground Undoing his pants, I thought how they would complement the already growing pile.

Before I could throw his pants, my own pair joined the pile. We only had our underwear on when AJ pulled back and lightly kissed my neck, slowly stroking my thigh.

Short Excerpt:

I'm going to have to steal someone else's body to get out of here"Ariel, are you listening?"

Ariel Transcender stared dumbfounded at the mother superior of her prison a/k/a Aulnale School for Orphans. "Yes mistress."

She had no idea what happened, though she pasted a fake simpering smile of appreciation on her face. Ms. Rochelle walked away A few minutes later, Ariel looked out the window again, tuning out Rochelle's mind numbing lecture on what was proper behavior when near a man.

The boarding home on this planet gave the stupidest lectures of the galaxy. Her lips curled into a sneer.

Women were not excited to be bound to men.
" Could I do this to someone else?" Do have any other choice? Lenchena, the teenage girl who'd stolen her adult body and taken off on Ariel's ship, needed to be found. And Arie refused to listen to the daily drivel about always listening to a man.

About The Author:

Victoria Pinder grew up in Irish Catholic Boston before moving to the Miam sun.

She's worked in engineering, after passing many tests proving how easy Math came to her. Then hating her life at the age of twenty four, she decided to go to law school.

Four years later, after passing the bar and practicing very little, she realized that she hates the practice of law She refused to one day turn 50 and realize she had nothing but her career and hours at a desk. After realizing she needed change, she became a high school teacher. Teaching is rewarding but writing is a passion.

During all this time, she always wrote stories to entertain herself or calm down. Her parents are practical minded people demanding a job, and Victoria spent too many years living other people's dreams, but when she sat down to see what skill she had that matched what she enjoyed doing, writing became so obvious.

The middle school year book when someone wrote in it that one day she'd be a writer made sense when she turned thirty.

When she woke up to what she wanted the dream of writing became so obvious.

She dreams of writing professionally, where her barista can make her coffee and a walk on the beach, can motivate her tales.

Contemporary romances are just fun to write. She's always thinking whose getting hurt and whose story is next on the list to fal in love.

Victoria's love of writing has kept her centered and focused through her many phases, and she's motivated to write many stories

Book Excerpt:

"Who cares anyway if I die? I hate my life I curse the day I was born," said Candace as she rolled out of her twin bed to face yet another day of sheer disappointments.

Her feet landed on the beige, shaggy, dirty carpet that had seen better days.  As she sat on the edge of her bed, she looked around the small apartment as though she was expecting to see something different, but nothing had changed"Lord, can I get a break? Can something good happen in my life?" she cried as her head collapsed in her hands. She knew within herself that today would be like all the rest: gloomy, sad and most of all, lonely. After all she had experienced in life, how could she think today would be any different?

Candace lived in a small studio apartment off of School Street in the city of Pittsburg, California, a city surrounded by the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area.  Her apartment had enough room for only one dresser and a nightstand, which she got at the neighborhood Goodwill store.

The walls of her apartment were dirty from years of cigarette smoke that didn't escape out of the window. Her kitchen table was made of plywood which she covered with a red tablecloth The table was encompassed by two chairs, one for her and the other one she had hoped would be occupied by with her. The blue and cream décor in her kitchen came from visiting the neighborhood garage sales.

Her neighbors knew her so well because of the frequent visits she made to their sales. Although Candace always had a roof over her head, she did not like the environment in which she lived. After looking intently at her dwelling place, she lay back on her bed and stared at the ceiling. Her thoughts shifted from her disappointing apartment to her anger about the issues she had to deal with, problems that had been
with her for years, issues with her family.

Since high school, life was hard for Candace. Almost every decision she made never retuned a good dividend. The men in her life came and went except for Derrick.  He stayed the longest but his bout with kidney failure ended whatever dreams she had of getting out of what she called the"ghetto." Derrick was her sure ticket to a better life, she'd hoped. The only consolation to his memory was the pictures on the stained walls and a locket she wore around her neck.

Candace grew up with both parents and two siblings. Her sister,

Monique was three years younger than her; her brother, Zach, was two years younger Candace always felt that she got the worse end of the stick when it came to Monique. Monique was light-skinned with long, black, wavy hair, which belonged to her, by the way.

Candace's skin tone was a few shades darker than Monique's. She was short in stature five feet, three inches tall, to be exact. She wore her hair down and straight, although it mostly contained black hair extensions, which she bought from the neighborhood beauty supply store.

Monique was the image of her mother minus a few inches of hair. She stood five feet, eleven inches with a smal frame; she could have been chosen as America's Next Top Model. But Monique decided to study law, passing the bar on her first attempt; she then started her own practice and moved it to Los Angeles.
Monique and her parents could not figure out why Candace didn't make more of herself. To them, Candace was merely existing and taking up space.  They wrote Candace off years ago.

My Review:

Drama, betrayal and forgiveness all played a part in Living Seperate Lives. Candace the under achiever in which whom her own family looked down upon. I could truly relate to the Candice, being that I have made a few mistakes in my life, and also been the other woman. Candice had a less than perfect life in which some of the decisions she made caused some major heartaches.
She end up hurting and betraying her dear friend Jordan. The author here shows the belief in God and how forgiveness is the key to moving on. I must say I didn't like the way this book ended at all. After reading of Candice attempted suicide it left me wanting more. I was disappointed, but loved the story line and the meaning behind it.

I gave this book 3.7. Chocolate stars*****

Five Ways to Find Inspiration for Your Writing

Every Writer needs Inspiration. No matter how many books one has written there are times when we need a little inspiration to get us going Many times I sit at my computer, starting at the blank screen, waiting for words to start flowing. Sometimes they do, sometimes I need a push.

1. Pictures

Whether you take them yourself, look through an old photo album, or spend some time searching through Google photographs are a great way to find inspiration for your writing. There is a Facebook group that uses pictures for this purpose.

2. Books

I use this method a lot. Reading what other people have written may be enough to spark a few ideas you wouldn't have otherwise had. Grab a book and mediate and let the inspiration flow.

3. Eavesdropping

I know it's not polite to do but it does. work. Next time you're at work the store or the coffee shop, pay attention to what's going on around you Listen to the conversations people are having. Body language says a lot Watch the movement of the people around you. Remember always have a pen and tablet with you.

4. Experience

This is the best teacher. Sitting at home may not be the greatest idea to stir your mind. Go for a walk, sit at the park, run or ride somewhere, go sit at the beach. Keep your eyes and ears open while you do it

5. Music

Some people can write while listening to music. If this is you, grab some of those tunes and go for it. Playing old tunes can sometime jar memories that can be used to get the juices flowing Try finding music that you've never listened to and see what happens.

I was so excited to also to have been a part of this book, going into the soul of women of size. This book touches on very personal and heartbreaking confessions, but truly shows the unbreakable spirit of these women. Yolanda also shares her story inside this book. A powerful, must read book!
